BALFOLK ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN ENKHUIZEN WITH WINDROOS – Netherlands

January 18th 2026
Holda Paoletti-Kampl

JANUARY 25, 2026, AT 2:00 PM
Windroos has consisted of Wijtze Pieter Kikstra and Irina Sarolea for many years. Wijtze Pieter and Irina both grew up in an environment filled with music. Folk music has a special place in their hearts, especially music from the Low Countries. But they also enjoy playing (dance) music from other Western European countries. Together they play a variety of instruments such as accordion, nyckelharpa, double bass, flutes, percussion, and they regularly sing. By using the instruments in different combinations, they create a multitude of timbres that everyone can dance to. Nowadays, their children Seija and Gjalt sometimes play along; they will be there this time. This adds at least the violin, viola, guitar, and trumpet to the instrumentation. You simply cannot sit still when listening to Windroos’ music.
Of course, the AdHoc Orchestra (house band of the Enkhuizer Balfolk) will also be there again. The AdHoc mainly plays traditional French balfolk music.
The ball will again be held at the Die Port van Cleve hotel/restaurant, which has a beautiful wooden floor that is wonderful to dance on. As usual, the ball will start promptly at 2:00 p.m. Reservations are not necessary.
