Duo Dorado (Golden Duo), a duo consisting of bandoneonist Koji Hirata and pianist Rie Nagayasu,
is now releasing their highly acclaimed duo album “Ave Maria”!
Koji Hirata (Bandoneon)
is a native of Yokohama. He graduated from Zushi Kaisei High School and Senzoku Gakuen College of Music. He graduated from the Buenos Aires Municipal Orquesta Escuela de Tango in 2009. He began playing the bandoneon at the age of 13. During his summer vacation at age 16, he traveled alone to Buenos Aires to study under the late Carlos Lassari, living with him. The following year, he began studying under Néstor Marconi and others. He subsequently studied under such legendary Japanese maestros as Akira Okamoto and Yuzo Nishito in Japan. He performed as a soloist at Senzoku Gakuen Maeda Hall under the baton of Kazuyoshi Akiyama in 2005 and Koichiro Harada in 2017. He has
also performed in France, Canada, Uruguay, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, the United States, Portugal, and China.
Rie Nagayasu (piano)
studied abroad in Germany while attending the Faculty of Music at Toho Gakuen College of Music. She graduated with honors from the University of the Arts Berlin and completed the Konzert Examen at the university’s graduate school. She obtained a German national performer’s license.
She has won numerous awards, including first place and the Chairman’s Prize in the piano division of the 7th Osaka International Music Competition and first place in the piano division of the 9th Changjiang Trophy International Music Competition.
