*WORLD MUSIC: THE 19th PREMIO ANDREA PARODI FOR ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD IS NOW OPEN FOR ENTRIES*
/*THE FINALS OF THE CONTEST WILL BE HELD IN CAGLIARI FROM OCTOBER 15 TO 17, 2026*/
Entries are now open for the 19th Premio Andrea Parodi, an important event in the world music calendar which attracts artists from all over the world.
The award is dedicated to Andrea Parodi, a highly regarded Sardinian musician in the world music scene who passed away on 17 October 2006. He is honoured every year at the event through performances of songs from his repertoire by the finalists and guests.
This year’s edition coincides with the 20^(th) anniversary of his death. It will take place from 15 to 17 October 2026 at the prestigious Teatro Massimo in Cagliari.
The award is organised by the eponymous foundation, under the artistic direction of Elena Ledda. Over the years, it has launched the careers of several important artists, including Daniela Pes, Flo and Fanfara Station, all of whom won the award.
The new call for entries is available at https://monferrautore.voxmail.it/nl/pvx3t9/jffg57/ww12atb/uf/4/aHR0cDovL3d3dy5wcmVtaW9hbmRyZWFwYXJvZGkuaXQvcHJlbWlv?_d=B1D&_c=2e64f72d, with registration free of charge until 9 May 2026.
The winner and some of the finalists will be offered a series of concerts and appearances at important Italian festivals, as well as other prizes.
Entries must contain:
– two songs, one of which will be entered into the competition (two MP3 files of auditions, live recordings or final productions, including previously released ones — please indicate which song you intend to enter into the competition);
– the songs cannot be purely instrumental and must represent an entire artistic project linked to world music.
– lyrics and any Italian translations of the two songs;
– an artistic CV of the competitor (individual or group).
An artistic committee chosen by the organisation will anonymously select the finalists from among all the entrants. The finalists will perform live on the final stage in front of large juries composed of authoritative professionals, including singers, songwriters, musicians, festival organisers, managers, record producers, press officers, journalists and music critics, from both Italy and abroad.
The overall winner will receive a €2,500 scholarship, as well as the opportunity to perform at some of Parodi’s partner festivals in 2027, including the European Jazz Expo (Sardinia), Folkest (Friuli) and the Festival del Torto (Sicily), as well as at the Premio Andrea Parodi itself.
The winner of the Critics’ Award will have the chance to produce a professional music video for a song with the support of the Andrea Parodi Foundation.
Some of the Award’s finalists will also be invited to perform at partner festivals such as Mare e Miniere in Sardinia and the Bianca d’Aponte Award in Campania.
